Did you know that every day 44,000,000 pounds of trash are dumped into the ocean? Every single day, people use plastic items one time and dispose of them without giving it a second thought. The sad part is, these are exactly the items that tend to end up polluting our oceans. It is time we start being more conscious about our impact on the world around us and doing our part to minimize our effect.
In case you missed it, this past Saturday, June 8th was World Oceans Day, a national day to celebrate our oceans. In honor of World Oceans Day, our client United By Blue launched a year long campaign called #QuitSingleUse. UBB is asking individuals to take a pledge to quit single-use plastic for a full 24-hours and UBB will remove one pound of trash from the ocean per pledge. In addition, United By Blue pledges to #quitsingleuse by World Oceans Day 2020. They will eliminate their most prevalent plastics in their waste stream such as:
- Plastic poly bags
- Plastic swift tags
- Plastic bubble wrap sleeves
- Plastic trim bags
- Plastic fabric roll packaging
- Plastic binder sleeves
- Plastic shrink wrap
- Plastic tape
United By Blue is leading by example to create effective change in our environment. They have a passion for conservation and being a force for good. Join UBB in their mission to #QuitSingleUse by taking the pledge here.
