Although it hasn’t felt much like summer with all the rain we’ve been dealing with here in Colorado, the sun has begun to shine and the summer solstice is this weekend. Now that it’s (finally) summer, the Scream team shared with me their favorite summer events in Colorado, or what they’re looking forward to the most.
Here’s what some of our team has to say about summer in Denver.
Art Director, Gem McLaughlin:
“Summer in Denver brings out the best in most of the people in the office. The moods and Vitamin D levels are drastically increased, mostly due to the margarita consumption on sun drenched patios around the office.”
Director of Public Relations, Katie Knoch:
“Ah, longer days and cooler cocktails. Summer has officially arrived when the parks are full and the line at Little Man ice cream backs up around the bend.”
Human Resources, Robyn Frahm:
“Summer to me means…the warm sun on my face, kicking my shoes off, fresh produce at summer markets, sitting on a blanket with a glass of wine listening to some of my favorite bands, swimming and tennis, and LOTS of late night walks/bike rides with my kids and laughter.”
Account Executive, Amy Mikkola:
“’Summer in Denver’ – a phrase that I have never said before. Being new to Colorado, I am ecstatic to explore the outdoors and experience the endless social events. I get to treat Denver like a new canvas which means I will definitely be channeling my inner Bob Ross and create myself a summer masterpiece.”
Personally, I agree with Gem on the subject of margaritas. Coming from Texas, nothing says summer more than a margarita on the rocks (accompanied by chips and queso, of course). And you can’t beat the amazing patios and rooftops all around Denver.
But margaritas aren’t the only cool things happening in Denver this summer. Here is a list of Scream’s favorite and most looked forward to events in Colorado.
Redrocks – Films, workouts, and concerts with a killer backdrop
Civic Center Eats – Delicious food trucks every Tuesday and Thursday
Summer Scream at Lakeside – A throwback night full of motown, carnival rides, wooden coasters and Deep Eddy Grapefruit + Soda
Farmers’ Markets – Particularly Cherry Creek and Pearl Street
Denver Flea – Vintage finds and cocktails, need I say more?
Moonlight Classic – A late night bike ride through Denver
Botanic Garden Summer Concerts – Music in one of the nation’s top botanic gardens
Jazz in the Park – Spend Sundays on a blanket with your dog and a bottle of wine
Independence Eve – The Colorado Symphony, Fireworks, and AMERICA.
Festival Italiano at Belmar – Real Italian pizza and wine
