One year ago today, we became a certified B Corporation. While it seems like just yesterday we were catching our breath and sipping on rosé in celebration of the hard work and dedication that was required to achieve this certification… we’ve been quite busy since then.
We continued in our mission to educate and inspire others to use business as a force for good. Following our four core values of art + creativity, women + girls, nature, and animals, we provided in-kind services to our community. We donated 10% of our time to various organizations including B Lab, Best for Colorado, The Colorado Ballet, Denver Animal Protection, Gold Crown Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver, and Reach Out and Read Colorado. Through our employee engagement “Scream Serves” volunteer program, we donated over 80 hours of time to local nonprofits.
Steps Toward Sustainability
One of our proudest accomplishments was hosting “Steps Toward Sustainability” at both the Summer and Winter Outdoor Retailer + SIA/Snow Shows. B Corps, 1% for the Planet Members, and nonprofits came together to give lightning talks about the importance of using business as a force for good in the outdoor industry.
Using “Be Good” storytelling, we were able to reach:
- 100+ attendees at the event, including B Corps, professional athletes, nonprofits, members of the media, and more.
- 100,000+ people through social media and e-newsletter promotions.
- 50,000+ through coverage in the O.R. Daily.
- 40,000+ people through bathroom sponsorship at Outdoor Retailer.
Most importantly, we joined forces with some incredible organizations to amplify the B Corp mission and empower others to think about the change they seek.
Our Commitment in 2018
We are committed to continuing to educate and inspire others with “Be Good” storytelling at more than 20 events over the course of this year. Here are a few on our calendar already:
February 23rd | Marketing for B Corps and Nonprofits | Private Panel at University of Denver
The audience will be the first year cohort of MS Marketing candidates, many of whom have expressed an interest in learning more about how to apply their skills in the NFP sector and the emerging space of B Corps.
Panelists:
- Tamra Ryan, CEO of Women’s Bean Project
- Lora Ledermann, Owner and Creative Director of Scream Agency
- Brian Lichtenheld, Director of Operations & Giving at help2heal
February 23rd | B Corp Day of Service at The GrowHaus
We are joining fellow B Corps to volunteer at The Growhaus, an indoor farm, marketplace, and educational center in Denver’s Elyria-Swansea neighborhood. Their mission is to create a community-driven, neighborhood-based food system by serving as a hub for food distribution, production, education, and economic development. Open to Colorado B Corps.
March 1st | Personal Branding Workshop at General Assembly (open to the public)
On Thursday, March 1st, General Assembly and SheSays are pairing up to talk ‘personal branding’. Simplify your story and create an effective “identity” with Keren Nimmo and a panel of Artists, Designers, Bloggers, and Small Business Owners. Lora Ledermann from Scream Agency will be on the panel discussing how “being good” as a B Corp can define who you are and inspire others.
