A few weeks ago, on a Friday night, I was introduced to a bunch of Idiots and I’m glad I was.
It was the VIC’s (the Village Idiots Cycling Club) annual membership meeting where I learned about the history of the club, met the enthusiastic members, and spoke with AJ Stapleton from Project Recycle.
I am over the moon impressed with their mission and passion of recycling bicycles to benefit youth. Project Recycle is a Colorado, Douglas county based non-profit. I can’t speak highly enough about their mission to support children through three areas:
• Dream Bike Program, encouraging children to ‘earn’ a new bike at school by showing Respect, Attendance and Academic Growth.
• Bikes for Tykes year round program for kids living in foster homes.
• Recycle your Bicycle program, collecting bikes and salvageable parts for repairs, future use on other bikes and providing education for bike repairing skills.
Please help us spread the word and consider donating your used bikes when spring cleaning your garage. Donation stations are all around the Castle Rock, Centennial, Denver, Highlands Ranch and Littleton areas, or you can find them here.
Also because of our love for biking, Scream is now a proud sponsor for the Village Idiots Cycling Club, so look for us on their newly designed bike jersey’s and watch for us on the side of the road.
Better yet, come ride with us!
